An exploration of dynamics in male/female relationships in human beings. The viewpoint of the artist being neutral in tone. A lot of concepts in this painting are represented through iconography.

The painting has two central figures, female and male, standing across from one another oriented opposite of one another. Iconography includes an anthurium (a symbol for giving and charity) next to the face of the female figure. Above the figure sits a sideways chess piece. The apple from the tree of knowledge sits just below the chess piece. Below and to the left of the woman there is a key with two ladders and a yin yang icon symbolizing balance being the key to a successful relationship. Below the woman sits a duck, which is a celtic symbol of honesty. A cuckoo bird sits in between the two figures, and that animal invades other animals’ nests. 

The female figure is holding a theater mask while the make has a mask on while holding the head in another with a pinocchio nose. The male is pointing intentionally while the woman has an open palm as a symbol of vulnerability. Above the man’s head sits a fox, a symbol of cunning and dishonesty. He also has a king chess piece next to the fox. The yellow rose sprouting from the man’s head might imply jealousy, as that was a symbol associated with the Victorian era. Below the man sits an all seeing eye with two knives, symbolizing possessiveness.
