Description

Daughters of the Coastal Empire – Art inspired by Savannah, Georgia. This painting sold in 2013 to a private collector

A charming abstract painting by Artist Jason Stallings. “Daughters of the Coastal Empire” is an early work by Jason from 2008. This diptych is created with mixed media collage on canvas. This painting was inspired by the artist’s experiences in arts education and living in Savannah while attending SCAD.

One painting has a small abstracted female face that is an allegorical representation of the city of Savannah, GA while the other is an allegorical representation of the city of Charleston, SC. Some of the other imagery includes palm trees (the SC state flag icon), spanish moss, and four-leaf clovers (a symbol associated with Savnnah’s irish heritage).

In excellent condition.

This painting perfectly captures the mood of a sultry warm spring or summer evening in the southeastern United States. It would make a festive highlight to any living room or salon where you may be entertaining guests.
